Baxter loses at Burnsville tournament

The Baxter 12-under traveling baseball team lost its only game in the Burnsville tournament last weekend.

Saturday's pool play games were rained out so seeding went to a poll of coaches. Baxter received the No. 2 seed in its pool and lost to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 7-6 in eight innings. David Supinski, Quinn McElfresh and Evan Brecht each had two hits.

With the score tied 6-6 in the bottom of the sixth, a runner on third, and no outs, Baxter pitcher Kyler Kennedy kept the game tied by getting two strikeouts to force extra innings.

Baxter (7-2) plays in the Brainerd tournament at 4 p.m. Friday against St. Michael-Albertville.
