PINE RIVER - Max Norman Reeve, age 89, formerly of Backus, passed away April 4, 2009, at Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center, Pine River.
The oldest of nine children, he was born Dec. 9, 1919, in Lenox, Iowa to Cleo and Myrtle Reeve. Max moved to Minnesota with his parents in 1934. He served in the Navy during World War II. Max married Helen Barchus on Aug. 24, 1946. He was a member of the Maxson Van Eps American Legion in Backus.
Max is survived by his wife, Helen; children: Mary Gonzalez (Tim) of Bloomington, Norman Reeve (Judy Meixner) of Backus, Russell Reeve (friend Colleen) of Hackensack, Joyce Utech (Mike) of Casper, Wyo.; grandchildren: Michael Gonzalez of Coon Rapids, Sarah Gonzalez of Denver, Colo., Landon Reeve of Backus, Kegan Utech of Casper, Wyo., Michael Utech of Casper, Wyo.; sister, Nellie Johnson of Great Falls, Mont.; brothers: Earl Reeve (Mary) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Perry Reeve (friend Pauline) of Walker, William Reeve (Carol) of Coon Rapids; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Betty, and brothers, Rex, Robert and Joe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Inurnment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Backus.
