60 years ago (1942)
Over 20,000 half-pints of milk were distributed to Brainerd School children under the Penny Milk program during May. The Harrison School building where the Elks Lodge sponsors the program, topped the schools with 3,448 half pints of milk.
80 years ago (1922)
The city officials received word today that the street cleaning machine which was recently ordered will be shipped out of Milwaukee today. This is very commendable and will put Brainerd in tidy shape and keep it so.
100 years ago (1902)
John Thompson, one of the mail carriers, is taking a layoff. The government allows them a two week's layoff each year.
