It may seem like an odd match when a boutique shares an entrance with the motor vehicle license bureau.
But Generation Creation Boutique is banking on the word of mouth and visibility that comes with the license bureau's average of 200 people per day ... and the traffic increase toward the end of each month's 10-day grace period.
Located in the lower level of the River Oaks office building on Washington Street in Brainerd, the boutique offers new and used items, with an emphasis on clothing for adults and children. Cash is paid to people who bring items in that are in acceptable condition.
The boutique includes baby clothes, maternity clothes, shoes, knickknacks, books, sporting gear, and even a hamster cage. There are new items, such as swimsuit cover-ups, jewelry, candles and crafts.
The boutique, in the former Mid-Minnesota Builders Association offices, has expansion room. Owner Angela Sandelin is already thinking of extra space with a good share of her inventory in storage waiting for display room. She said she focuses on purchasing seasonal clothing items and is willing to sell crafts for others. She said the boutique could also use more men's clothes. Baby play pens and cribs are typically snapped up in a day.
The boutique is open Monday through Saturday.
