Detroit rap star Eminem, the best-selling recording artist in the United States, was to be arraigned this morning in Macomb County, Mich., on charges of felonious assault and carrying a concealed weapon, sources said.
Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, was arrested with his wife Kimberly Scott Mathers early Sunday following a marital dispute at a nightclub in Warren, about 20 minutes outside of Detroit.
The controversy has done little to diminish Mathers' popularity. Fans purchased an estimated 800,000 copies of his compact disc over the past seven days, industry sources said. The rapper, who specializes in brutal fictional tales laced with obscenities, is expected to dominate Billboard magazine's national pop chart again this week.
Perry says he's doing fine
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Contrary to rumors, Matthew Perry says he is doing fine after a car crash last month and does not need a liver transplant.
''I'm in much better shape than my car,'' the 30-year-old ''Friends'' star told the ''Access Hollywood'' television show. ''It was not painful at all ... It was painful to the car and the porch that I hit.''
Perry was driving his Porsche in the Hollywood Hills on May 20 when he swerved to avoid another car and crashed into a vacant home.
Carrey, Zellweger an item
NEW YORK (AP) -- Hot Hollywood celebrity couple Jim Carrey and Renee Zellweger didn't experience love at first, or second, or even third sight.
It wasn't until after they finished filming the upcoming ''Me, Myself & Irene'' that Zellweger finally succumbed to the smitten Carrey's charms.
While making the movie, ''he became very important to me as a friend,'' the 31-year-old Zellweger said in the July issue of Vanity Fair.
''I was there for work,'' Zellweger said. All I know is that once he was gone I missed him. Badly. So maybe I was falling in love.''
