PINE RIVER -- Cass County's newest deputy came here all the way from Holland.
Kilo is a canine deputy who wears his handler's first badge attached to his collar.
Deputy Jason Andersen introduced 3-year-old Kilo to the county board Tuesday during the board's regular meeting at the Pine River Family Center.
Kilo found a planted stash of drugs wedged between stacked chairs in the meeting room before it was his time to be introduced, so had to wait anxiously by the door to announce his find.
He withstood a series of camera flashes from media representatives at the board meeting before going back to work. Celebrity status was not in his training, but Kilo was more patient than the average dog.
Kilo underwent extensive training before training with his Cass County deputy partner.
Andersen said Kilo already has sniffed out three drug stashes to assist the department in his short tenure on staff.
