Brainerd Lakes Area Women Connection luncheon slated
The Brainerd Lakes Area Women Connection's June luncheon will be from 12:30-2 p.m. Thursday at the Red Roof Inn.
Speaker Karen Mitchell is an expert with window treatments and seasonal decorating. She will share how to get the most out of every move in life. A special feature will be owner Gayle Brady of the Red Oaks Pet Inn, who will give valuable information on choosing the right pet and how to care for it. Sue Lenzen, music director, is the featured musician.

First Presbyterian's mission events planned Sunday
The mission committee of First Presbyterian Church in Brainerd will sponsor a potluck after the 10:15 a.m. church service Sunday.

Rummage and bake sale scheduled June 27-28
PEQUOT LAKES - Grace United Methodist Church in Pequot Lakes will have a rummage and bake sale from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 27 and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 28.
The public is invited to make tax-deductible charitable donations of good-quality used household items, tools, furniture, children's clothing, etc. Items will be received at the church daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 23-26. Large appliances, computers and printers, adult clothing and used mattresses cannot be accepted.
Homemade baked goods will be available each day of the sale, along with fresh frozen Grace Pasties. The GUMC youth will serve coffee, soft drinks and lunch items both days of the sale.
Proceeds of the sale will support local church programs and missions.
David Crum to be guest speaker at UCC
David Crum will be the guest speaker at 10 a.m. Sunday at First Congregational United Church of Christ.
Crum is a pastoral counselor. His message is entitled "Becoming a Blessing."
Vacation Bible school planned at Riverside
Riverside Union Church, 8.5 miles south of the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds on Crow Wing County Road 45, will have Cosmic City vacation Bible school for ages 4-10 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. June 9-13.
Prepare for liftoff to Cosmic City, where kids will explore the awesome wonder of God, Bible adventures, out-of-this-world games, memorable crafts, spacey snacks, wonder-filled science experiments and amazing worship.
Rejoice Lutheran focus on community service
Members of Rejoice Lutheran Church will contribute their efforts toward making Baxter an even more beautiful place.
They will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday to pick up trash along several Baxter streets. That will be followed by a picnic at Camp Vanasek on Whipple Lake.

Outdoor gospel concert scheduled Saturday
MALMO - The Schimpps with Gary Timbs will be in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at Malmo Free Church.
The Schimpps have presented gospel concerts since 1983, when Timbs was the director of promotions for Minnesota Christian Broadcasters.
Malmo Church is located near the junction of Highways 47 and 18 on Highway 18 near the northeast corner of Lake Mille Lacs.
Trinity Lutheran to hold polka service Sunday
Trinity Lutheran Church of Brainerd will host its annual polka worship service on Sunday, featuring Lorren Lindevig on the accordion.
The service is scheduled for 9 a.m. A coffee hour will follow the service.
Lindevig comes from the Scanlon/Cloquet area of northern Minnesota. He started his career with the Westerners and for years has played with the Chmielewski Funtime Band.

Bike ride fundraiser scheduled June 14
PINE RIVER - A 55-mile bike ride fundraiser will begin at 9 a.m. June 14.
Riders will begin at the Paul Bunyan Trailhead in Baxter, with other entry points in Merrifield, Nisswa, Pequot Lakes and Pine River. The ride will end at Maple Hill Church, where lunch, refreshments and music by Galen Filsmeyer and Ronnie Ware will be provided.
