LITTLE FALLS -- An 82-year-old Little Falls man drowned in Green Prairie Fish Lake Tuesday night after his sweatshirt got caught on a vertical post of his dock, causing him to fall, according to the Morrison County Sheriff's Department.
Henry P. Witt died at the scene, said Morrison County Sheriff Paul Tschida. Tschida said when Witt went onto the dock at his cabin to put a minnow bucket into the water he got his sweatshirt tangled. This caused him to fall into the water and kept him from getting out.
The sheriff department received the call to the lake about six miles north of Little Falls at 9:15 p.m.
Witt was found by his son, Ron Witt, and his two children. Tschida said the son was on a boat fishing on Green Prairie Fish Lake and was gone for about 45 minutes. When he came back to shore he found Witt and called 911, he said.
Green Prairie Fish Lake, south of Highway 115, is about five miles east of Randall.
Tschida said this is the first Morrison County drowning this year.
