A delegation from the Women's Center of Mid-Minnesota plans to address the city council tonight with a suggestion for eliminating wet t-shirt contests in the city. The center argued against renewing the liquor license for the Blue Ox Bar.

(Photo) A quarter of a million dollars worth of confiscated marijuana and amphetamines were burned this morning by Crow Wing County Sheriff deputies Dale Wolke, Frank Ball and Skip Rudquist. The 500 pounds had been seized over two years.

(Photo) Ken Bjerke of St. Cloud caught this 21-8 lunker northern on a cane pole in Margaret Lake. The line broke and he thought the fish was lost, but he spotted the bobber, grabbed it, and pulled in the line hand-over-hand.
60 years ago (1949)
(Photo) Mary Tornstrom is presented with a certificate of recognition and a dozen roses from L.E. Preston, president of the Jaycees. Tornstrom, who was named Teacher of the Year, teaches German at both the high school and the junior college.

The Brainerd Gun Club has a shoot every Thursday evening and 15 or more turn out at the old grounds on the Holland Hill tract in Northeast Brainerd. There is some talk of transferring the range to a section at the Brainerd Country Club.
100 years ago (1909)
A couple of north side fellows were assaulted the other night by two men whom they suspect of trying to burglarize a nearby house. As one of the fellows is in the habit of carrying money home from his business he has purchased himself a good gun.
