DANUBE (AP) -- An 11-year-old boy was in critical condition Wednesday after an accidental shooting north of Danube in west-central Minnesota.

Nicholas Lippert was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale after Monday's shooting.

Renville County Sheriff Jerry Agre said Nicholas was accidentally shot in the head with a .22-caliber rifle fired by his 13-year-old brother. Both boys were home alone on the first day of summer vacation from school.

The shooting remains under investigation.
