Our congratulations to the Brainerd Warrior baseball team for winning the Regional Championship and a trip to the State Tournament. This is the first time in 16 years that a Warrior nine has been in the state tourney.

Centennial Belles are blossoming forth in greater (and more beauteous) numbers each Friday, which is officially designated as Centennial Costume Day in Brainerd.
40 years ago (1961)
Ground breaking ceremonies for the new YMCA at 6th and Oak streets will be held here at 5 p.m. today with C. Elmer Anderson, general chairman of the fund drive, turning the first spadeful of earth.
60 years ago (1941)
Forty-five years ago today, a 23-year-old physician tacked up his just-dry diploma, laid out his instruments and set up practice in the Iron Exchange Building in Brainerd. Dr. Thabes, Sr. has no intentions of retiring.
