Medication alert

Posted: Monday, June 05, 2000

Dear Heloise: A few years ago, I found out that I needed to go on MEDICATION every day for the rest of my life.

What helps me remember to take my pill is a neon-colored pillbox that I got from the pharmacy at the grocery store. It has a compartment for each day of the week and a lid that snaps shut.

I put it on the shelf over my kitchen sink, and when I get up in the morning to fix my lunch (I work full time outside of the house), that neon color catches my eye and reminds me to take my pill.

I have been using this method for three years, and it works like a charm! -- Cindy Smithson, Catonsville, Md.

Don't you just love those little pillboxes? Please be sure that there are no children in the household who might get into the pills. The little plastic boxes have a multitude of other uses, too. Use them to store small screws, small tacks, sewing bobbins and small earrings. -- Heloise

EMPTY TISSUE BOX

Dear Heloise: I emptied my pop-up tissue box and thought it was such a waste to throw this box away.

I put it in my car for a garbage holder. It is the perfect size, and it's pretty, too! -- Julie Ann Hurst, Washington, Ill.

SOUND OFF

Dear Heloise: People lead their pets to use my yard as well as a public park so the pets can make their deposits, then the people do not clean up after them. I have grandchildren, and it's no pleasure to let them play outside or to take them to the park to use the play equipment. Don't these people care? -- Saundra King Byers, Nevada, Mo.

This nasty practice is why there are ''pooper'' laws in many areas. -- Heloise
