SABIN (AP) -- A 1-year-old girl was released from the hospital after being treated for mild hypothermia. She was found Sunday crying, wet and cold three-quarters of a mile away from the area where her family was camping.
The girl, from Hawley, was found about 6:30 a.m. after a five-hour search and was airlifted to a hospital in Fargo, N.D., said Clay County Sheriff Larry Costello.
''Sabin Fire was doing a search at sunrise, and they heard her crying in a grove of trees'' at the Interstate Drag Strip near Sabin, Costello said.
Authorities don't believe the girl, barefoot and wearing only a T-shirt, could have wandered that far alone and are looking into the possibility that she had been kidnapped, Costello said.
Investigators from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the FBI are helping with the investigation.
