PEQUOT LAKES HONOR ROLL
The following students have been named to the honor roll at Pequot Lakes High School:
Anna Raddatz, Brainerd, Rachel Goble, Aitkin, and Jade Hellen, Pine River, participated in the second annual Umbrella Project exhibit at Bemidji State University. Raddatz is a senior majoring in graphic design, Goble is a sophomore majoring in art, and Hellen is a sophomore majoring in creative and professional writing. The exhibit, held in the Touch Gallery at BSU, is an extension of a visual foundations class offered though the Department of Visual Arts.

COMING SUNDAY IN NORTH COUNTRY
Twice each year the Caballeros del Norte gather to ride horses and have fun. This year the club had its annual spring ride in Pillsbury State Forest, which hosted the "Horsemen of the North" for the third time.
Man drowns in Leech
A 51-year-old Minneapolis man, who was pulled Saturday from the southeastern part of Leech Lake, died of an apparent drowning, Cass County Sheriff Randy Fisher said Sunday.

The 1987 Cystic Fibrosis Bike-a-thon had an increase of almost 100 participants and nearly tripled the amount raised over last year. There were 142 participants who raised $7,000 for Cystic Fibrosis research. That compares to last year's total of $2,400.
A canoe runs through it
Mark Hauck and his daughter Sidney headed down the Mississippi River from Kiwanis Park Sunday morning. They joined several others who paddled the river from Brainerd to Crow Wing State Park for the Minnesota State Parks Open House Day. The canoeists landed at Crow Wing State Park about 2 1/2 hours later. The park hosted an authentic fur trade era encampment along the banks of the river, with members of the Crow Wing County Muzzle Loaders group demonstrating crafts and other period activities.

Prelude to Relay for Life
Tom Isle, assisted by his wife, Deb, served as grillmaster for the Relay for Life brat sale Saturday at Memorial Park in Brainerd. Isle is a cancer survivor and a former honorary chairperson of Relay for Life, which raises funds for the American Cancer Society.

Arin Fowble's RBI single in the bottom of the 10th helped complete the Brainerd Blue Thunder comeback as they avenged their first loss of the season with a 3-2 10-inning Northwoods League victory over the Rochester Honkers Sunday at Mills Field.
Prince and Eller lead Bees to win
Brady Prince was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Grant Eller was 2-4 with a double and a two-run home run to lift the Brainerd Bees past St. Cloud Orthopedic 7-4 Sunday in Lakewood League baseball.
Brainerd claims six section championships
SAUK RAPIDS - Tom Lyscio in the shot put, Justin Tyner in the 1600-meter run, Tyler Hanson in the 400 dash and Mitch Lorenz in the 800 run all claimed Section 8-2A track and field championships and advanced to the state tournament. They also helped the Brainerd Warriors boys' team to second Saturday.
Peltoma hired as new Warrior girls' hockey coach
Rod Peltoma will fulfill a dream when he steps on the ice to conduct his first practice for the Brainerd Warrior girls' hockey team next fall.
Larson wins fight
Brock Larson defeated Kevin Knabjan Sunday in Las Vegas. Knabjan, a replacement for the injured World Extreme Cagefighting welterweight champion Carlos Condit, lasted only 27 seconds into the first round as Larson pummeled him with punches to end the fight.
