Williams honored by Iowa State

Dick Williams, former superintendent and PGA professional at Pine Meadows golf course, will be inducted into the Iowa State University Hockey Hall of Fame Saturday.

Williams was an associate head coach of the 1992 American Collegiate National Champion Cyclones.

Mattson leads area racers

ALEXANDRIA -- George Mattson of Brainerd raced his Wissota Super Stocker to a fourth-place finish in the main feature May 29 at Viking Speedway. He finished third in his heat race.

Georgia lead golf meet

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) -- Georgia's David Denham shot a 2-over 72 and three teammates finished at 5 over in Friday's third round, helping the Bulldogs maintain a nine-stroke lead after three rounds of the NCAA Division I tournament.

"We just had to get in without any major damage," Georgia coach Chris Haack said.
