ST. MATHIAS -- The Brainerd Braves baseball team evened its season record in the Victory League North Division with a 25-1 thrashing of the St. Mathias Saints Saturday.
The Braves struck early and often as they erupted for five first-inning runs and added three more in the second, another in the third and 10 runs in the fourth.
St. Mathias was held scoreless by Braves starter Tony Whitlock until the seventh. Whitlock lost his shutout bid when Chad Kilgore knocked in Jeff Grow with the Saints' only run. Whitlock struck out six and walked only one.
Damon Miller led the Braves by going 4-for-5 at the plate with three home runs, six RBI and six runs scored.
Mike Bjerkness went 2-for-6 for the Braves with a home run and two RBI. Dan DeChaine was 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. Chris Studer was a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and five runs scored.
Brad Streiff was 3-for-6 with a home run, three RBI and four runs scored. Adam Browning was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI and Brett Streiff added a home run and four RBI.
Saints pitcher Matt Yde took the loss as he allowed 17 runs on 12 hits and walked four in four innings.
Randall 13, St. Mathias 3
ST. MATHIAS -- Tom Zak pitched a nine-inning complete game, allowing six hits, two walks and three runs while striking out five. His pitching helped the Randall Cubs to run away from the St. Mathias Saints 13-3 Sunday.
Nick Prozinski was 4-6 with a double and four runs. Jason King was 3-3 with two homers, six RBI, a double and three runs. Jason Karnowski was 5-5 with a homer, two doubles and two RBI.

Pierz 10, Lastrup 1
PIERZ -- Scott, Alvin and Steve Kimman combined to go 5-for-12 with six RBI top help the Pierz Brewers past the Lastrup Spurs 10-1 Sunday.
Chad Tomala got the win in seven innings with one run allowed.

Buckman 3, Long Prairie 2
BUCKMAN -- Paul Cekalla emerged from a pitching dual between the Buckman Billygoats and Long Prairie Shockers Sunday.
Cekalla picked up a 3-2 win for the Billygoats. He gave up eight hits. Scott Geiger added some power for Buckman with a two-run homer.

Fort Ripley 11, Opole 3
OPOLE -- Fort Ripley's Joe Kounkel pitched a nine-inning complete game in an 11-3 win over the Opole Bears Sunday.
Kounkel gave up 14 hits and three walks but only three runners crossed home plate. He struck out five. Dan Kirkpatrick was 2-3 with a double and three RBI.

Bulldogs 11, Swanville 6
PIERZ -- Shawn Fischer drove in five runs and also won the game from the mound as the Pierz Bulldogs beat the Swanville Heat 11-6 Saturday.
Fischer was 3-for-4 with five RBI and pitched five innings, allowing only three runs, five hits, two walks and striking out four.
Clint Sullivan was 2-3 with an RBI and Dave Rocheleau was 2-5 with a RBI.

Brewers 9, Buckman 4
BUCKMAN -- Chad Weiss hit a home run and pitched the Pierz Brewers to a 9-4 victory over the Buckman Billygoats Saturday. Scott Kimman was 3-for-5 and Alvin Kimman also hit a home run for Pierz.

Lastrup 18, Long Prairie 15
LONG PRAIRIE -- The Long Prairie Shockers led 14-4 with two out in the seventh before the Lastrup Spurs went on a tear, scoring 14 runs for an 18-15 win Saturday.
Paul Jenkins was 3-6 with three RBI and Jamie Litke was 2-4 with a home run for Lastrup. Jason Gross got the win while Reggie Litke picked up the save.
