Portions of Crow Wing, including Brainerd, have been chosen by the Minnesota Waste Management Board as possible sites for a commercial hazardous waste processing facility, it was learned today.

The Rev. Edward G. Barrow, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Brainerd, and priest-in-charge of St. John's Mission in Aitkin, has resigned effective June 30. During his rectorage he has seen the building of a new rectory, and the liquidating of the mortgage on the church.
40 years ago (1961)
The combined Fraternal Order of Eagles and Auxiliary 58th Annual Convention will be held in Brainerd for four days next week. Local officials of Brainerd Aerie No. 287 predicted it would be the biggest convention in the number of delegates and visitors ever held by the F.O.E.

Climaxing their social season of the year, members of the Young Business Women's Club held their Annual Spring Formal at the Spotlite. Jack Mills and his orchestra furnished the music for an evening of dancing. Approximately 30 couples attended the fair.
80 years ago (1921)
The temperature last night, as indicated by government thermometer, approached very closely to freezing point. Beans were nipped in some gardens and a warm sun coming out in the morning worked further havoc.
100 years ago (1901)
Pan-American Exposition at Buffalo has honored Brainerd in requesting an exhibit of the work done in the city schools. A very few outside of the larger cities received this request.
