Duane A. Updike

ST. CLOUD -- Duane A. Updike, 69, St. Cloud, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in St. Cloud.

He was born Nov. 8, 1930, in St. Cloud, to Roy and Mary Jane (Miller) Updike. He entered the Navy during World War II and then served in the National Guard for three years. He married Ruth Rogero on March 5, 1949, in Georgia. He worked as a skinner and truck driver for Landy Packing Co. for 23 years and for Anderson Trucking for 20 years. He also drove school bus for Larson Bus Service.

Survivors include his wife, St. Cloud; four daughters, Rosalee Zupan, Crosby, Mary Walz, Susan Kerfeld, Nancy Johnson, all of St. Cloud; two sons, Donald and David Updike, both of St. Cloud; and 10 grandchildren.

An infant son, Joseph, two sisters, Dorothy Same and Arlee Allan and a brother, Harold Updike, died earlier.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Chapel in St. Cloud. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. today and one hour before the services Monday at the funeral home.
