Lastrup clinches East

BUCKMAN - Jason Gross struck out 15 in a complete-game five-hit shutout as Lastrup blanked Buckman 5-0 Sunday to clinch the Victory League East Division championship.

The Lakers, who have posted three consecutive shutouts, received an RBI single from former Billygoat Dave Woitalla in the top of the first to go ahead 1-0.

The game remained that way until the Lastrup ninth when Rick Schlieman hit a two-out grand slam to make it 5-0.

Todd Robinson doubled twice for Buckman.

Braves 12, Foley 3

FOLEY - Jason Roepke hit a three-run homer in the first to spark Brainerd as the Braves went on to post a 12-3 win Sunday in Victory League amateur baseball.

Roepke ended with six RBIs.

Tony Whitlock pitched five innings for the win, giving up one run and four hits while notching five strikeouts. Nate Foss had four hits for the Braves.

Mike McMillan led Foley with three hits.

Fort Ripley 1, Cuyuna Range 0 (10)

FORT RIPLEY - Jim Kramer's run-scoring hit in the bottom of the 10th produced the game's only run as Fort Ripley blanked Cuyuna Range 1-0 in 10 innings Sunday.

The winning rally started with a walk to Robbie Veith. He moved to second base on Brett Kramer's base hit and scored on Jim Kramer's game-winner, which gave Fort Ripley its seventh straight win.

Caleb McDonald pitched eight shutout innings for the Rebels before giving way to Brett Kramer, who was credited with the win after pitching two innings.

Pierz Brewers 6, Pierz Bulldogs 5

PIERZ - The Pierz Brewers led 4-2 after seven innings when the Pierz Bulldogs took the lead 5-4 with a three-run eighth on an RBI single from Mitch Weber and a two-run homer from Alex Gruber.

In the bottom of the ninth Corey Egan tied the game with an RBI single and Steve Kimman won it with a two-out single.

Mike Pohlkamp was the Brewers starter and went seven innings. Greg Pohlkamp got the win in relief, pitching two innings.

Harding 2, St. Mathias 1

ST. MATHIAS - Harding scored twice in the fourth and Dinosaurs right-hander Joel Hendrickson struck out eight in a complete game as Harding defeated St. Mathias 2-1 Sunday.

Bill Aamodt tossed a four-hit complete game for the Devils. He struck out six.

For the Dinosaurs, Thor Wicklund was 1-for-4 with a run and Eric Hanneken went 2-3.

The Devils' Brad Streiff was 2-3 with an RBI and Adam Hardy 1-4 with a double.

Lastrup 8, Harding 0

LASTRUP - Lastrup's Chad Weiss pitched a complete-game shutout, with eight strikeouts in nine innings, as the Lakers blanked Harding 8-0 Saturday.

Weiss limited the Dinosaurs to only five hits and walked none. He had a perfect game for 6 2/3 innings until Mitch Becker's single in the seventh.

Rick Schlieman doubled twice and drove in three runs for Lastrup.

Fort Ripley 13, Pierz Brewers 1

PIERZ - Fort Ripley won its sixth consecutive game with a 13-1 pounding of the Pierz Brewers Saturday.

Nick Jelacie drove in five runs and Ray Austin drove in three to lead the Rebels.

Josh Haberman won his first start of the season with five innings of work. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Eric Boser was 2-3 with the Brewers' lone RBI.
