"Military Humor from a Soldier's Wife's Perspective" will be presented at 6 p.m. June 18 for the Brainerd Family Readiness event at the Brainerd Armory.
The comic relief event is designed to bring Jan Donahue's comedy here for families and friends of deployed soldiers as part of the Brainerd Family Readiness.
The program reports Donahue has found a way to turn the hardships of deployment around into a creative and unique comedy act. Her husband, Kevin, was deployed for Operation Enduring Freedom, with the Minnesota National Guard, in 2003-2004. He has been serving again with Operation Iraqi Freedom since September 2005 with the 125th Field Artillery Unit, attached to the 134th, in Scania, Iraq.
Donahue has previous experience in public speaking as a teacher for Minnesota West Community & Technical College, project coordinator for Heron Lake BioEnergy Ethanol and with speaking engagements for the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
She talks about her antics of raising two teenage boys through two deployments, her work experiences and what some of those military acronyms really mean. Her program is designed to speak to and laugh about the day-to-day problems an average deployed soldier's wife experiences and how human can be the best medicine.
The event is free. Refreshments will be served and child care provided. For more information, contact Tressie by e-mail at email@example.com or call (320) 766-3200 or 825-4816.
