Fine propsed after grain collapse
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Federal officials say they are proposing $144,000 in fines against a company after three workers were injured when crusted grain collapsed around them.
The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration alleges unsafe working conditions at Hubbard Feeds, Inc.
Three employees were injured in December, after grain that had hardened collapsed on them as they were trying to break apart its crust, OSHA said. One worker was hospitalized with a collapsed lung and fractures, and two workers were treated and released, said Bruce Beelman, the OSHA area director.
"There were serious injuries involved," Beelman said.
