Lumberjacks knock out Warriors

BEMIDJI -- The second-seeded Brainerd Warriors finished their softball season tied with the most wins in program history, but couldn't add to the total losing to top-seeded Bemidji 3-1 in the championship of the North Subsection 8, Class 3A tournament Tuesday.

Megan Arns was 2-for-3 at the plate and struck out two and walked three on the mound for the Warriors.

Paige Olson and Alison LeBlanc had Brainerd's other hits.

Becky Rasmussen held the Warriors to four hits and one runs to earn a trip to the section final.

"It was a good year and these were a dandy bunch of kids to coach," Warrior coach Mike Zauhar said.

Brainerd 11, Fergus Falls 5

BEMIDJI -- The Brainerd Warriors scored nine runs in the sixth inning to escape the losers bracket with an 11-5 victory over fourth-seeded Fergus Falls Tuesday.

Arns was 3-for-4 with a double, a run and a RBI. Haley Bower was 2-4 with a double and Paige Olson, Alison LeBlanc also were 2-4.

Brainerd -- 11 13 3

Fergus Falls -- Vasfarct and Johnson; Brainerd -- Megan Arns and Erin Holznagel. WP -- Arns. LP -- Vasfarct. 2B -- Haley Bower, Arns, Paige Olson, Erin Holznagel. Overall -- Brainerd finishes 19-6.
