WIMBLEDON, N.D. -- Marshall J. "Chap" Darkenwald, 89, Wimbledon, N.D., died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, N.D.
Chap Darkenwald was born on April 11, 1915, in Uxbridge Township, Barnes County, N.D., the son of George O. and Mary (Altringer) Darkenwald. He graduated from Uxbridge High School. He lived and farmed all his life in Uxbridge Township. Chap married Helen Borgeson March 30, 1940, in Wimbledon.
He served on the Uxbridge School and St. Boniface Church Boards. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and Eagles Club of Valley City.
Chap is survived by his wife, Helen; a son, James of Bloomington, Minn.; two daughters, Mary Lou (Tom) Swenson, Deerwood, Minn., and Patricia (Gerald) Meier, Bismarck, N.D.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and eight sisters.
Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004, at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Wimbledon, N.D., with Father Steven Meyer officiating.
Prayer vigil will be 8 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2004, at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Wimbledon, N.D. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Wimbledon, N.D.
