MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Cynthia Cooper missed just one free throw, but it was a big one.
The Minnesota Lynx fouled Cooper with 12 seconds left in regulation on Sunday. If the Houston guard made both shots, the Comets would lead by one. Instead, Cooper missed one, and the game went into overtime tied at 61 after a shot by the Lynx's Teresa Edwards was blocked at the buzzer. The Lynx went on to win 68-64.
Cooper's miss was the only time the Comets (2-2) failed at the free-throw line, where they were 18-for-19. She finished with 22 points.
The Lynx (3-1) never trailed in overtime. With less than a minute to go and Minnesota leading by 2, Sheryl Swoopes picked up a Lynx turnover but missed a layup at the other end.
Smith made two free throws to put the Lynx ahead by 4 with 10 seconds left.
