CROSBY -- Joseph Donald Zauhar, 89, Crosby, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.
He was born March 19, 1914, in Crosby to Mike and Mary (Minerich) Zauhar. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the 10th Mountain Infantry Division. He was a retired employee with M.A. Hanna Mining with 35 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby, the Cuyuna Range Knights of Columbus, the Myrin James American Legion Post No. 443 of Ironton, was a past commander, a member of the Ironton Commercial Club, Cuyuna Range Housing, and the Elks, Moose and the VFW in Brainerd.
Survivors include four brothers, William Zauhar, Aitkin, Emil Zauhar, Ironton, George Zauhar, Ironton, and Robert Zauhar, Phillipsburg, Pa.; and two sisters, Annie LeMonde, Sun City, Fla., and Martha Kaminsky, Ironton.
His wife; and two brothers, John Zauhar and Michael Zauhar, died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crosby with Father Howard Eisel officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby with full military rites by Myrin James American Legion Post No. 443 of Ironton.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Koop Funeral Home in Crosby with a rosary service at 7 p.m.
