The Brainerd Parks and Recreation Departments daytime youth T-ball and baseball programs begin this week.
Last-minute registrations will only be taken on Monday of this week.
Handicapped summer games open to children, adults
The Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department announced that the co-ed handicapped summer games program has been opened to both children and adults.
Registrations are being accepted through June 11. The program begins June 14.
Additional participants are needed to get the program running. Contact Bonnie Muzik, recreation coordinator, at 828-2320.
Volksmarch June 8-9 in St. Cloud
A 10-kilometer Volksmarch, a non-competitive walk open to everyone, is scheduled June 8-9 in St. Cloud.
Walkers are invited to start after 4 p.m. June 8 and finish before 8 p.m. or after 8 a.m. June 9 and finish before 5 p.m. The event will be conducted rain or shine.
A Volksmarch is a leisurely walk of about six miles through a scenic or historic area over a pre-marked route. It is designed so participants may walk at their own pace. This walk has been designed in two 5km loops to accommodate those who prefer to walk a shorter distance.
There is a $1 fee to participate. Registration will be inside the west door of the Whitney Center on Northway Drive in St. Cloud.

Mighty Gulls lose opener 7-0
ALEXANDRIA -- The Brainerd Mighty Gulls lost the Northwoods League opener 7-0 to the Alexandria Beetles Friday night. Details were unavailable.
Brainerd was scheduled to play Alexandria 7:05 p.m. Saturday and 7:05 p.m. Sunday, with both games at Mills Field.
It was incorrectly reported in Friday's Dispatch that the Pierz Pioneers baseball season had ended. The Pioneers play Melrose 5 p.m. Monday at Faber Field in St. Cloud in a Section 6AA losers' bracket game.
