Friends of the Library to meet

Friends of the Brainerd Public Library will meet at 1 p.m. Monday in the large meeting room at the library following the "Brown Bag Lunch" summer speaker Wendy Rosnau.

School district forming task force

The Brainerd School District is looking for 12 community members to help form the future foundation of the school district.

A long range planning advisory task force is being formed from various sectors of the public as an opportunity for citizens to offer insights to the school board regarding issues of education and future needs.

Task force members will study and determine key issues related to future facilities' needs and technology needs of the school district and then present those key principles to the school board to guide future decisions.

Members must be able to attend a series of seven to eight meetings during the months of September through December. Each meeting will be scheduled for approximately three hours and are tentatively set for Saturday mornings.

Interested persons are asked to contact Carolyn Johnson in the superintendent's office at 828-5312 for an information packet and application or visit the district office at 300 Quince Street in Brainerd.

Applications will be reviewed by the long range planning steering committee with final approval of board members made by the school board.

All meetings of the task force will be open to the public.
