Nate Rubin became the first Brainerd boxer to win a national USA boxing championship Saturday when he stopped Leach Lake Indian Reservation's Chris Rice during the Native National Boxing Championships at Grand Casino Hinckley.

Rubin won the 132-pound weight class during the three-day competition that featured boxers from across the country.

Brainerd's Halverson earns all-state golf honors

Brainerd's Sean Halverson was named to the Minnesota State High School Coaches' Association All-State golf team.

Staples-Motley's Cydney Hasselberg and Julia Schock earned Minnesota State High School Coaches' Assocation All-State golf team.
