Scandinavian folk music festival set in Nisswa

NISSWA -- The first Nisswa-stmman will be a big gathering of musicians, dancers and general aficionados of Scandinavian folk music Friday and Saturday, June 9 and 10, in Nisswa and Pequot Lakes.

More than 50 folk musicians will appear on two outdoor stages on the grounds of the Nisswa Pioneer Village. A Friday, June 9, concert featuring selected stmma musicians will begin at 7 p.m. followed by an old-time dance at 9 p.m. at the Pequot Lakes Senior Center.

Admission to the concert at Lutheran Church of the Cross is $5 for adults and $2 for children.

Activities Saturday, June 10, will start at 10 a.m. with ongoing folk music presentations, children's activities and lots of informal jamming all day on the festival grounds. A fiddler's parade is scheduled starting in downtown Nisswa at 11 a.m.

Bring blankets and folding chairs.

Food will be available on the grounds, including a genuine Kaffestuga. A smrgsbord and dance June 10 at the American Legion Club in Nisswa is also planned.
