A change in the risk level for a predatory offender in Pine River has resulted in a community notification meeting on Tuesday.
Robert Arthur Litzau, 67, was released from prison May 5 as a Level 2 predatory offender, the Cass County Sheriff's Department reported, and he moved to a residence on 24th Avenue Southwest in rural Pine River.
The sheriff's department last week reported Litzau's risk level had charged from Level 2 to Level 3 - the highest risk level for re-offending - which resulted in a community notification meeting to be scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Pine River-Backus High School. Law enforcement personnel and Minnesota Department of Corrections staff will attend to discuss the offender's status and answer questions.
In 1999, Litzau was convicted of serious felony fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison, according to court records. In September 2009, he was returned to prison after being found guilty of felony knowingly violating registration requirements as a predatory offender.
According to information from the sheriff's department, Litzau has a history of sexual contact with adolescent males ages 14 to 15 and he was known to his victims.
Litzau has served his prison sentences and is not wanted by law enforcement officials. Also, the sheriff's department and the Minnesota Department of Corrections cannot direct Litzau on where to live.
