Marohn's day job also deals with planning

While Chuck Marohn's enjoys looking at the big picture relating to planning and development his day job as co-owner of the Baxter-based Community Growth Institute also keeps him busy.

Community Growth Institute, located in the Lakeland Bank building in front of the Westgate Mall, is a planning organization that works with small towns and rural areas. It emphasizes the importance of helping local leaders build communities that are financially solvent and socially and economically vibrant.

The business works with communities to develop comprehensive plans and provides training.

In addition to his education as a civil engineer and planner, Marohn formerly served on the East Gull Lake Planning Commission and was a member of Gov. Tim Pawlenty's task force examining the state's shoreland regulation.
