Critics may call it government intrusion but we find nothing onerous with the Baxter City Council's recent edict grass must not exceed 7 inches in length with certain exceptions.
The maximum height seems reasonable enough and idle acreage or undeveloped platted lots are exempt if they're mowed twice a year. Even when property owners fall behind in their mowing they get a chance to fix the problem within 30 days.
Trying to keep one's lawn as nice looking as the neighbors' can be a chore. Fortunately, in Minnesota, all of our lawns look about the same from December through March.
