Thanks to Dispatch employees for giving up part of their holiday weekend to put out the paper Monday.
Shame on you
Standing at public events such as parades and ceremonies, I have found that a lot of people - children, parents and the like do not show any respect for "Old Glory." It is a shame that the underlying character flaws generally show through in true color and lack of patriotism when this great country is at war and soldiers are dying. Parents, you know better and need to teach your children to give the flag the respect it deserves. For the adults who can't take their hat off when the nations colors are presented, shame on you.
Give me a break
Calling in regard to the Kinder-Friend Day for all the kindergartners in the Brainerd School District who are having a graduation ceremony at the high school. Everybody's parking and some are parking where there's no parking signs. Then you got this rent-a-cop or peace officer, a young guy, who walks up and down and tickets them. Give me a break. One day wouldn't hurt as long as they aren't doing something that's dangerous as far as parking is concerned.
Missed an opportunity
I was appalled to see the picture of the ATV riders on the front page of Wednesday's Dispatch. The paper missed an opportunity to project safety, instead chose to show two riders without helmets. Our young people will look at this and say, "Why do I have to wear a helmet?" You have many opportunities to educate the public and missed one there.
More than strange
It is more than strange that there has been no congressional investigation into the oil industry. That industry alone has crippled the economy of our entire nation and absolutely nothing is done about it! The oil industry stockholders have enjoyed no greater profits before now.
