Pequot Lakes School poetry contest winners announced

PEQUOT LAKES -- Winners have been announced in a poetry contest for elementary students at Pequot Lakes School. The contest was held in recognition of National Poetry Month in April. Three judges rated 106 poems submitted by 89 students. The winners were:

Grades 1-2 -- first place: "My Bunny" by Emily Bickford; second place: "My Pets" by Holly Hathaway; third place: "My Dog Lily" by Angela Cole; honorable mention: "Environment" by Kevin Beltz

Grades 3-4 -- first place: "The Ocean" by Brittany Davis; second place: "Fall is in the Air" by Jamie Sewall; third place: "Ogre" by Cheri Jacobus; honorable mentions: "Winter Night in My Neighborhood" by Brooke Trottier and "Mother Earth's Creations" by Kylie Beltz.

Grades 5-6 -- first place: "My Imagination" by Kristen Noska; second place: "Jazmine" by Samuel Wesp; third place: "The Forest" by Charles Belanger; honorable mentions: "Friends" by Brianna Jane Boldt and "Friends" by Mindy Howard.
