Aitkin outscores Hinckley-Finlayson

HINCKLEY -- The Aitkin Gobblers racked up 19 hits in a 14-8 South Subsection 7, Class 2A opening-round baseball win over Hinckley-Finlayson Wednesday.

The Gobblers' Jake Mehr was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with three RBI, while teammates John Swanson and John Holder added two RBI apiece.

Pequot Lakes 6, Moose Lake-WR 2

HINCKLEY -- Pequot Lakes advanced to the second round of the South Subsection 7, Class 2A tournament with a victory over Moose Lake-Willow River Wednesday.

Senior Todd Szymanski pitched a complete-game victory and drove in two runs and Kyle Mederis was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI for Pequot.

Esko 6, Crosby-Ironton 5 (8 inn.)

PROCTOR -- Esko eliminated Crosby-Ironton in an eight-inning opening round game in the South Subsection 7, Class 2A tournament Wednesday.
