Posted: Thursday, May 29, 2003

The Brainerd Fire Department sent three fire trucks to three different fire calls that came in at the same time Wednesday afternoon in Long Lake Township, East Gull Lake and Riverside Drive in Brainerd.

At 3:10 p.m. Wednesday, the fire department was called to a grass fire in Long Lake Township. The grass fire was caused by a tractor in a field, the fire department reported.

At the same time firefighters responded to a gas line cut at 11298 Green Hill Road in East Gull Lake. The leak was repaired by Xcel Energy while firefighters stood by.

Three minutes later a call came in about a truck fire at the Beaver Dam Road and Riverside Drive intersection. The Brainerd Fire Department responded and fire damage was contained to the alternator within the truck.

The fire department responded to another gas line cut at 910 Third Ave. N.E. in Brainerd at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighters provided assistance to the gas company, which repaired the leak. The cause of the gas line cut was a backhoe operating in the area.
