Early Monday morning, a rifle squad will fire a volley near the Mississippi River in Brainerd, saluting those who gave their lives for this country. A memorial wreath, in remembrance of those who died at sea, will be thrown into the river.
30 years ago (1972)
There will be 395 Brainerd High School students out of a class of 429 participating in commencement exercises tomorrow night. Twenty-five seniors decided not to take part in the ceremonies and the remainder need to take summer classes.
40 years ago (1962)
Members of local National Guard unit will leave Saturday for their annual Summer Field Training at Camp Ripley. The training will continue through June 7.
60 years ago (1942)
Arrangements have been made by the National Youth Administration whereby girls from Minnesota, outside of the Twin Cities area, can now be given work experience and training in St. Paul which will lead to employment in the war industries.
80 years ago (1922)
Tomorrow will be a big day at the Brainerd Country Club Golf Club grounds. Starting in with blind par contest for men, and a putting contest for ladies, with a small entry fee of 25, the club hopes to draw to the grounds the largest attendance in history.
