ST. CLOUD (AP) -- Stearns County will begin operating a new court for people charged with drug and alcohol offenses.
A drug court, believed to be the second of its kind in Minnesota after one in Hennepin County, will begin taking cases July 1. Paid for with federal and state funds, judges in the court will try to use probation, intensive supervision and sanctions to help treat offenders with addictions. Stearns County District Court Judge Bernard Boland will be the lead judge in the drug court.
