Inmate's death ruled an accident
An inmate's death in the Crow Wing County Jail April 15 was ruled an accident, the Crow Wing County Coroner's Office reported Thursday.
David Broderick, 21, Crosby, was found lying unresponsive in his holding cell by correctional staff, the sheriff's department reported.
The coroner's office reported the cause of Broderick's death as methamphetamine toxicity from an ingestion of an unknown amount of methamphetamine.
Broderick was brought in by the Crosby Police Department at about 2 a.m. after being arrested for fleeing a police officer and drug possession.
At about 5:58 a.m. April 15, correctional staff requested an ambulance for Broderick, after he was found unresponsive in his holding cell. He was pronounced dead at the jail.
Crow Wing County Attorney Don Ryan said there is no continuing investigation.
