MORA - Mark Hoge's spectacular pitching night was done in by the top-seeded Mora Mustangs during the fifth inning as the eight-seeded Crosby-Ironton Rangers lost 3-1 in the Section 7-2A quarterfinals on Wednesday.
"(Hoge) mixed up his pitches really well, he had them off balance and cruised through most of the game," Rangers' coach Steve Freese said.
Unfortunately, the Mustangs collected a walk followed by two triples in the fifth inning and ultimately doomed the Rangers' upset hopes.
Hoge finished 2-for-3 in the batters box and was the only Ranger to cross home plate. Corey Henningson went 3-for-3 and collected an RBI single for the Rangers.
