STAPLES - LeRoy "Corky" Seefeldt, age 75, of Staples, passed away at the Lakewood Hospital on Saturday, May 23, 2009. Services were planned Wednesday, May 27, at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Sveom officiating. Burial was to be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Corky was born on Aug. 26, 1933, in New Effington, S.D., to Herman and Martha Seefeldt. At the age of 6, his family moved to the Staples area to farm. Corky attended the District 80 school through the eighth grade. Corky started working at Lefty's Bar in 1959. On Oct. 22, 1966, he married Betty Esteb and they had two sons. Corky retired in 1993 after suffering from a stroke. He enjoyed camping and fishing.
LeRoy is survived by his sons, Steven (Camillee Chaffee) and Kevin (Brenda); two grandsons; sister, Marjorie Seefeldt; and brother, Erwin "Erde" Seefeldt; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two half brothers, Freddy and Ken.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
