CROSSLAKE - William "Bill" Herbert Wiessner, 80, of Crosslake, died Monday, May 25, 2009, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. Services for Bill are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at Crosslake Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kate Stangl officiating. Friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake, Minn.
Bill was born Oct. 24, 1928, in St. Paul, the son of Martin and Angeline (Winkley) Wiessner. After graduating from St. Paul Central High School, he attended Dunwoody Institute. Bill enlisted in the Air Force. He was united in marriage to Marguerite "Marge" Yates on Dec. 12, 1950, in St. Paul. Together Bill and Marge owned and operated Wiessner's Creative Design. In 1990, after 42 years in the interior design business, they retired and moved to Crosslake. He was a member of Crosslake Presbyterian Church and also served on its board of directors. He was a member of the Aurora Lodge No. 100, AF-AM Shriners and a member of the American Society of Interior Designers. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and bird-watching.
Bill will be missed by his wife, Marge; his sons, Clyde (Robin) Wiessner, of Eagle, Colo., and Scott (Karen) Wiessner, of Ocala, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jaye, Eric, Joel and Sarah; and brothers, Richard Wiessner, of St. Paul, Robert Wiessner, of St. Paul, and Gerald Wiessner, of Lodi, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents, and older brother, George.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to Crosslake Presbyterian Church and Good Samaritan Hospice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
