MOORHEAD (AP) -- A college student here will spend the month of June walking from Missoula, Mont., across North Dakota to help raise money for cancer research.
Nick Huck's mother, Valerie, died about 2 1/2 years ago from ovarian cancer. Huck, 22, said he planned the walk to honor her memory and raise money for the American Cancer Society.
"The desire to want to give something back to something you believe in was given to me by Mom," he said.
Huck is starting the 1,000-mile campaign in Missoula because it was his mother's birthplace. He will end the walk in Moorhead, camping along the way.
