Stroke prevention screening offered

Life Line Screening will offer health screenings starting at 10 a.m. June 2 at the Brainerd Family YMCA.

The vascular screenings include a carotid artery screening, an abdominal aortic aneurysm screening and an ankle brachial index.

Blood donors needed in Garrison

A blood drive will be 1-7 p.m. June 4 at the Light of Cross Church in Garrison, an event sponsored by the American Red Cross.

Nisswa Pioneer Village open

NISSWA -- The Nisswa Area Historical Society opened the Pioneer Village museum and depot site last Saturday.

The turn-of-the-century Pioneer Village will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays until June 11, then it will be open each Wednesday through Saturday until Aug. 30.

The village includes a livery museum, schoolhouse, bank, homestead, barn and immigrant cottages. There is a small fee for self-guided tours. Weekly pioneer skill and craft demonstrations are given, weather permitting. Across the street visitors will find a caboose, depot, agent's office, sitting park and children's wooden train.
