20 years ago (1983)

Nina Borgwarth, Brainerd High School's state champion hurdler went on to set a new South Region 8AA Tournament record in the 100-meters of 14.34 seconds and also won the 200-meter hurdles in 28.9.

30 years ago (1973)

The graduation of the Brainerd High School Class of 1973 will be held in the school gymnasium starting at 8:15 p.m.. Thursday. The speaker for the evening is Fred Casey, assistant county attorney. It is a change from graduation programs of recent years when the students were the speakers.

40 years ago (1963)

Northern Pacific Railway, in 1963, is spending approximately $11,424,000 for new freight cars. Freight cars built and scheduled to be built at the company's shops in Brainerd will total 561 cars at a cost of approximately $6,000,000.

60 years ago (1943)

The annual maintenance fund appeal of the Salvation Army in Brainerd for a quota of $3,000 will be launched June 8, under the direction of C.R. Gorham, general campaign chairman. Mr. Gorham is manager of Nash Finch Co.

80 years ago (1923)
