MONTICELLO -- Kenneth C. Bingen, 82, Monticello, formerly of Aitkin, McGregor and northeast Minneapolis, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at The Residence North Hospice in Brooklyn Center.
He was born May 23, 1920, in Andover, S.D., to Frances and Ida (Boeckmann) Bingen. He attended schools in Groten, S.D., and at the age of 16 moved to Minneapolis. He worked for Northland Electric for a time. He married Lorraine A. Carlson on Nov. 13, 1942, in Minneapolis. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to Minneapolis and worked for H.J. Carlson Hardware Store in northeast Minneapolis. He later worked for Montgomery Ward Co. where he worked until his retirement. After he retired, he moved to the Aitkin and McGregor area. In June, he moved to Monticello. He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, where he had served on the church council; the McGregor American Legion Post; N.E. Minneapolis Lions Club; Palisade Lions Club, where he was a charter member; and AARP.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dennis Bingen, Pine Springs, and Robert Bingen, Champlin; one daughter, Laurie Huehn, Ham Lake; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Hannish, Dallas, and Deloris Behning, Edina.
One sister, Pearl Moore, died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Palisade with Rev. William Sass officiating.
Friends may call one hour before services Thursday at the church.
Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.
