Hoppe finishes 5 shots shy of state tournament berth

LONG PRAIRIE - Brainerd junior Molly Hoppe missed a trip to the Class 3A state tournament by five shots after the final round of the Section 8-3A tournament Tuesday at Long Prairie Country Club.
Hoppe shot 95 Monday and 95 Tuesday for a 190 total. She placed 32nd in the state meet in 2008.
"The conditions were totally different today (than Monday)," Warriors coach Brian Stark said. "It was wet and misty this morning, which was a factor in her game. The greens were much slower, there was not as much roll.
"Molly was frustrated (Monday), and wasn't able to turn it around unfortunately. She's disappointed, but she has one more year to give it another shot."
