If variety is still the spice of life, the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway may be the spiciest! Within that variety, many are finding just the thing that inspires them to join and support the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association.
Recently the PBSBA's distributed its popular tear-off maps and a new 20-page color brochure about the Byway area. Tourism and recreation, a strong byway association focus, inspired the Whitefish Area Lodging Association to become the major sponsor of the map.
Lakeside Lawn and Landscape owners, Bruce and Michelle Zeman, appreciate the overall quality of life value that having a nationally designated scenic byway brings to the area. New Lakeside Lawn and Landscape customers receive a Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway informational packet that gives a glimpse of the many things to do and see along the byway route and within the byway area.
The Birds of the Byway brochure, now in its third printing, was the ticket for Crosslake residents Dick and Mary Lu Dietz. "Mary Lu is a great supporter of all nature activities and programs, and, as an avid birder, has particularly enjoyed the brochure, Birds of the Byway," noted Dick, during a visit with Judy Wallschlaeger, Whitefish Area Property Owners president.
WAPOA's decision to join the byway association was driven by its interest in the health of the area waters. "The Whitefish Area Property Owners Association became a member of the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association because it seemed to be a giant step toward increasing the health of the resorts. WAPOA believes healthy resorts are good for the lake, water quality and all the things we stand for," commented Judy.
Lakeside Lawn and Landscape, the Dietzes and WAPOA are members of the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association's highest level of membership, the Group of 54. The "54" refers to the number of miles covered by the byway route.
The variety of projects and accomplishments attributed to this group since it started in 1998 is remarkable in itself, but made even more noteworthy when one realizes this is an all-volunteer organization. Learn more about the PBSBA at www.paulbunyanscenicbyway.org.
