Sabra Abbott of Lowell Elementary School in Brainerd won the annual poster contest for fifth- and sixth-grade pupils sponsored by the Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District. This year's theme was "The Land Alive with Wildlife."

The Crosby City Council last night formally accepted the Jessie Hallett Memorial Library as a gift from E.W. Hallett in memory of his late wife. Construction of the $300,000 facility is expected to be completed in June.
