Elsie V. (Knott) Eystad

CHOTEAU, Mont. -- Elsie V. (Knott) Eystad, 94, Choteau, Mont., formerly of Pine River, died Friday, May 2, 2003, at a hospital in Choteau, Mont.

She was born Dec. 9, 1908, in Pine River to Robert and Birdie Knott. She attended school in Pine River. She married George Eystad in 1927 in Morris. In 1943, they moved west, living in Washington, Idaho and settling in Boulder, Mont., where she worked as a housemother at Boulder River School for 10 years. In 1960 they moved to Pine River where she worked at Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center and Madden's Resort. In 1965 they retired and moved to Choteau, Mont. She volunteered at the Choteau Museum and the Choteau Senior Citizens' Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Patti Werner, Spokane, Wash.; five sons, James, Kallispell, Mont., Dean, Great Falls, Mont., Howard, Great Falls, Mont., Larry, Great Falls, Mont., and Charles, St. Paul; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband died earlier.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Kline Funeral Home in Pine River with Pastor John Twiton officiating.

Friends may call an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.
